Galveston Mardi Gras 2017 will be bigger and better than ever before. More parades, more floats, more beads, and yes, . . . more people enjoying this fun filled annual event. This years festivities will be held February 17-28, 2017. Galveston will once again host a variety of activities and events during Mardi Gras 2017. Exquisite Balls will crown Kings and Queens. These Balls will host fabulous bands and attendees will dance and enjoy the evening, complete with ample food and drink to be sure!
Over 30 bands will entertain the revelers this year from the Saengerfest Park Stage during the 12 days of Galveston Mardi Gras 2017. Saengerfest Park is located at the corner of 23rd St. and Strand. This will be the unofficial focal point of all the Downtown Galveston Mardi Gras 2017 activities and events. As usual the kick-off parade will be at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 18th. The Mystic Krewe of Aquarius will excite us all with their fabulous floats and marching bands. They also have several tons of beads that will be thrown for all attendees to catch and wear.
If you have never been to a Mardi Gras Parade, then you have missed one of the great joys in life. They are family friendly and will entertain for hours. Food and Drink can be found nearly everywhere. You can also bring your own! Marching Bands and Themed Floats will make you smile. The excited crowds of revelers eager to catch their share of “throws” (usually beads) line the parade route and interact with the Parade itself. Come experience the thrill! There is nothing quite like a Mardi Gras Parade to lift your spirits.
The Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Parade begins on Seawall Blvd. and ends up downtown in the Strand District. Over the Galveston Mardi Gras 2017 Season nearly 400,000 visitors will attend events during Galveston’s 12 days of Mardi Gras. Aquarius also hosts the final parade on “Fat Tuesday”. It is limited to the Downtown area and is held in the evening. See you there!
